Pug Home Boarding FAQ

Additional Information

Q. How much is an overnight stay? A. From £25 per pug per night at our pug holiday camp. Q: Why do you only take bookings up to three months in advance? A: At Puglins Holiday Camp, we limit bookings to a maximum of three months in advance to allow us to plan around our family’s lifestyle and commitments. This flexibility also enables us to better accommodate pug owners seeking last-minute pug boarding options, as many other licensed home boarders get booked up months or even years ahead. Keeping our calendar flexible helps us offer pug care to those who might otherwise struggle to find availability. Q. How do you secure pugs while travelling? A. By law, all dogs must be secured whilst driving in the car. Our preferred method is using a crate with pillows and blankets, ensuring they are nice and snug. Q. Where will my pug sleep at night? A. We strive to keep your pug’s routine as normal as possible. Whether they usually sleep on a sofa, in their bed in the kitchen, have their own bedroom, or sleep in your bed, we will discuss this during the initial booking call. Q. Why do you only have Pugs? A. Pugs are a very unique breed and generally thrive in the company of other pugs. We are experienced in managing pugs' unique personalities and potential health concerns, along with their day-to-day care. Q. Do I provide my pugs food for the whole stay? A. Yes, please bring enough food for your pug’s stay, along with any approved treats, medications, and supplements. We will review this information beforehand. If your pug is enrolled in fat camp, this will be provided for them in the form of a raw, cooked, and natural food diet. Q. Will my pug be taken out for a walk every day or have some form of exercise? A. We aim to stick to your usual routine as much as possible; however, if this is not feasible, there is a large garden with a paddling pool and shade for outdoor play. Q. I am very nervous to leave my pug somewhere new; how often will I get updates? A. As often as you like! We are always just a phone call away, happy to do video calls via WhatsApp and send photos/videos. Q. My pug needs daily medication; how will you remember to give it to them? A. Rest assured that your pug's needs are our #1 priority. We maintain a daily chart for each pug to ensure all daily needs are taken care of. Q. When do we need to pay for our pug’s stay? A. When booking, a deposit of 20% of the total booking is required to hold your place; this is non-refundable or exchangeable, so please ensure your dates are accurate. The full balance is due two weeks before check-in, with a 50% refund of the remaining balance if canceled within 72 hours. Please ensure you have adequate travel insurance to protect you in case of extenuating circumstances. Due to Covid-19, we cannot void our cancellation policy if Covid impacts your plans, so before booking, please ensure you are comfortable with our cancellation policy. Q: Do you only board senior pugs? A: Yes — at Puglins Holiday Camp, we primarily welcome senior pugs (aged five and up) or those who are very calm and placid in nature. This helps create a peaceful environment so all our pugs can enjoy their holiday without the hustle and bustle of younger, bouncier dogs. If you’re unsure whether your pug would be a good fit, please get in touch — we’re always happy to chat about our specialized pug care options. Q. What happens if my pug gets sick or injured during their stay? A. This will be discussed during the booking call. If you have a preferred vet, we always aim to use that; however, we have a 24/7 animal hospital less than 10 minutes from the house, and consultations are free of charge. Medications or treatments will be invoiced directly to you as the owner, and every effort will be made to consult you right away. We will always act in the best interests of your pug and use our judgment when needed. You will be asked to sign a booking form before your pug's stay. It is your responsibility to ensure your pugs are up to date with vaccinations, worming, and flea treatments upon arrival, as well as the kennel cough vaccination. Q. Do my pug’s vaccinations need to be up to date before they can stay? A. Yes, this is a license requirement. It is also recommended to ensure the kennel cough vaccination has been administered. Q. Do I need to worm and flea treat my pug before staying? A. Yes.
